I enjoyed moments of this production.
However, the thing I have always found with Tobacco Factory productions is that they have a magic - often, the music, lighting, and space combine to create a realm which few other theatres are able to transport you to.
Unfortunately, while I enjoyed Oliver Twist, it didn't have that. There were some really nice moments, and some fun effects, but it really didn't blow me away.

Particularly at the start, in trying to create a contrast between the workhouse and freedom, it felt a little like 23 shades of grey...

I also felt like there was a lot of darkness and menace, and a relatively small amount of happiness and joy...
